BIRD
by Heather Elaine Gallagher

Free on the wind, I fly
Above the earth and within the sky.
I travel far and yet I'm close
To the people I love the most
I leave you now but I will return
To this world of twists and turns
I need the air, I need to be free
To learn to live and learn to be me
I want the world, I want to live
I want to know what I can give
I fly away from my pain
I fly away from my rain
I search instead for happiness
I look for sunshine in sadness
How long will I be gone?
I shall return when I find hope from beyond
