seeking a thin veneer to cover my face clear
i dipped my head in the water

it felt cool against my open eyes
with air thin i did descend
further into the liquid clear

i swam slowly as i drifted down
inviting it all to stay with me

floating there i felt the whoosh of the air return
with its stiffness and brash inlets

i hearing the water drip back down into the pool
longed for the blankets of warm quietedness
