Wonderland
by Jennifer Sweeney
Fairlylands and flying angels
Guarding me and guiding me
Holding me and helping me up
Waterfalls washing over me
Sweet soothing peaceful songs
Calming me and tuning me in
To the unnatural wonders
A beautiful man riding over to me
On the back of a sweet, graceful dolphin
Lovestruck I float up into the clouds
And tell my guardian angel
Who had played the role of cupid
Bestowing bliss upon me
My heartfelt joy lasted...
But not long
For fairytales are for fools
Harsh horns now sounding off
Sirens of blaring disturbance
I'm on a wrecking ground with bombs exploding
Abuse and violence enraging me
Demons luring me into their fire
My dolphin taken for tuna
My man turning ugly
Riding off with fellow sharks
My cupid has a string attached
To his arrow
He's pulling it out slowly
Making the pain linger
Deeply wounded
I awaken
To the reality that can take me
To these wonderlands
if I let it.
