The Tides
by Jennifer Sweeney

The tides of the sea
At times calm and serene
Yet a smooth bump in the road
Can build momentum
And eventually break
Into a foamy white explosion
Of crashing waters
Then wither onto the shore
As it tires in defeat
Finally pulling back
Into the everflowing support
Of the ocean

We are waves of energy as well
Connected for strength and support
We collapse and regain composure
Like the tides
Just as free and strong
And as much a part
Of the flow of the universe
As the tides are
To the sea
